Ration card types
There are six types of ration cards issued by the government. The list of these ration cards is as follows:
Antyodaya Ration Card: Antyodaya Ration Card is issued to the poorest sections of the society who have no stable income. Older men, women, unemployed people, and workers usually fall under this category. Those with a per capita income of less than Rs 250 per month can apply for this ration card. In order to get this ration card, the applicant has to submit an application which has to be submitted attested by the Municipal Councilor or the Sarpanch of the village with two passport size family photos and an affidavit specifically specified. Antyodaya ration cardholders are provided 35 kg of rice per 3 kg
BPL Ration Card: Families who are below the poverty line can apply for BPL Ration Card. BPL families have an annual income of ₹ 27,000
APL Ration Card: Citizens above the poverty line can apply for the APL Ration Card. There is no income limit under this category ration card so anyone can apply for this ration card
Blue / Pink / Red Ration Cards: These are issued to families belonging to the above poverty line with these ration cards. There are certain special subsidies that are given to cardholders such as those who can buy kerosene at subsidized rates from card shops. Households that do not have gas or LPG connection can apply for this ration card
Orange Ration Cards: Orange Ration Cards are also provided to families living above the poverty line. The income criteria for getting an orange ration card is different for different states
Yellow Ration Card: This ration card is given to these citizens who belong below the poverty line. To get a yellow ration card, each state has different annual income criteria according to the definition of the poverty line.
Eligibility Criteria
The following persons can apply for Ration Card in Assam: –
Anyone who does not have a ration card can apply for a ration card.
Women in the family can apply for ration cards.
The applicant must be a dweller of the State of Assam.
The applicant must be a citizen of India.
